Professor Eero Vaara is the leader of this research initiative and network, which is interested in the role of language in strategy and strategizing. A three-year Academy of Finland project was concluded in May 2015, which generated numerous top-publications as well as novel empirical insights. The collaboration continues as the discursive approach helps us to explore the ways in which strategies are enacted in organizational storytelling and conversations. This allows us to critically evaluate taken-for-granted assumptions in strategic management and to develop new dialogical approaches for the practice of strategic management. Also the ethical dimension of strategy work is included in the discursive field, as the ways in which strategy is talked about has huge implications on how we treat other people. This research draws on discursive and narrative theories and methods to advance theoretical understanding of strategic management and to help managers promote creative thinking and organization-wide participation.
